Projects can often need to be canceled for various reasons. The easiest time to cancel a project is before an inspection is scheduled. Follow the instructions below to walk you through canceling a project:
- Before Accepting a Proposal for the Project: Follow these instructions if you haven't accepted a proposal for the project.
- Cancel a Project After Accepting a Proposal: Follow these instructions if you accepted a proposal for the project, but no inspection event has been scheduled.
- Cancel a Project After Accepting a Proposal and Scheduled Inspection: Follow these instructions if you accepted a proposal for the project, and an inspection event has already been scheduled or already completed.
- Log in to Accela Marketplace
- A Created Project for Regular Inspections by Searching Address
- A Created Project for Regular Inspections by Searching Permit Number
- Navigate to the My Projects page and select 'Pending' in the filter bar. Choose the project you wish to modify and click on 'Cancel Project.'
- A pop-up window will appear. Click on 'Cancel Project' to proceed.
- Navigate to the My Projects page and select 'Confirmed' in the filter bar. Choose the project you wish to modify and click on 'View and manage.'
- On the project page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Cancel Project.'
- Describe in the expanded area why you need to cancel the project, and select 'Send.'
- A pop-up window will appear. Click on 'Delete project' to proceed.
The project will disappear from your 'Confirmed' projects.
If you have accepted a proposal for a project and an inspection event has been scheduled, or already completed only DOB can cancel the project.
Follow these steps to request project cancellation:
- Navigate to the My Projects page and select 'Confirmed' in the filter bar. Choose the project you wish to modify and click on 'View and manage.'
- On the project page, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on 'Request Cancel Project.'
- Describe in the expanded area why you need to cancel the project, and click on 'Request.'
- A pop-up window will appear. Click on 'Request' to proceed.
DOB will review your cancellation request and make a determination. According to DOB policy, a project can only be requested for cancellation once a third-party inspection agency begins a project.
